What is the PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship?

The PSPC is a five-day poker event that takes place just before the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) in The Bahamas. The 2019 event will be held at the Atlantis Resort and Casino from January 6-10, with the PCA running January 10-16, 2019. There will be a host of side events across both the PSPC and the PCA.

How old do I have to be to participate?

You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in any of the events. No persons under the age of 18 are allowed to enter the tournament area throughout the duration of the event.

Do I need a passport to get to The Bahamas?

Yes. All travellers, travelling to and from The Bahamas, need to have a passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer’s identity and nationality. Make sure you start working to get your passport now should you require one; it is your responsibility to have proper documentation. We have provided links to some passport services below. If your country is not listed, visit Google to check if you need to take action.

How much does it cost to play in the event?

The PSPC has a $25,000 buy-in. Please check the Schedule page for full details on other tournaments available, and the cost of entry.

How can I qualify for the Main Event?

There are numerous qualification options open to players through PokerStars and PokerStars Live events. Please see Platinum Pass page for full details.

What is a Platinum Pass package?

A Platinum Pass package is your chance to play the PSPC for free. Please see the Platinum Pass page for full details on what is included in a package, and how you can win one.

At what live events are Platinum Pass packages being given away?

Players can secure their Platinum Pass across a wide range of PokerStars Live events throughout 2018. To see if a live event is awarding a Platinum Pass, visit that event's page and look out for the Platinum Pass icon on its schedule.

What if I have won a Platinum Pass but can’t attend the live event?

All Platinum Pass packages are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you are unable to attend the PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship you will forfeit the entire value of the package. Please review the full Platinum Pass Terms & Conditions here.

How can I book accommodation for the event?

If you have won (or bought) a full PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship package you will be required to complete an online accommodations registration form, where you can input all hotel details, including requests for extensions and upgrades. Any special requests (i.e. additional nights, additional guests, upgrading accommodation), should be included on this registration form. You will then be contacted with rates and information regarding the request by our Accommodations Team.

Can I purchase a PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship package?

Yes, there are multiple ways in which you can purchase a package, visit the Buy-In page (available soon) or contact our Registrations Team for full details.

Please Note: if you register for PSPC in advance of the event, we will reserve you a seat. If you do not arrive to collect your ticket and have not informed us of your un-registration BEFORE the start of the tournament, your funds will be added to the prize pool and you will not be entitled to a refund.

Will there be currency exchange services?

There will be NO currency exchange active during the event. It is your responsibility to ensure that you bring US dollars to use on-site. There are several banks just off property that do offer a limited currency exchange (up to $500 a day maximum). It is your responsibility for ensuring you have the correct funds (US dollars ONLY) to buy into any of the events on the schedule.

Can I buy in via debit/credit card?

We do NOT accept credit or debit cards as a means to buy in to events at the event.

Can I choose my PSPC starting day?

There is only one starting day for the PSPC. The event starts on January 6.

How can I buy into the side events on the schedule?

There are multiple ways to buy into side events. Visit the Buy-in page (available soon) for full details.

Is it possible to withdraw or deposit funds using my Stars Account during the event?

No, this option is no longer available at this event or at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. You can wire funds directly to Atlantis Casino to use in tournaments and cash games. Please visit the PSPC Buy-In page (available soon) and read the 'WIRE TRANSFER' section.

How will I get paid if I win the tournament?

We will allow you to take a portion in cash. The rest can be deposited into your Stars Account if you have a COM or EU account or wired directly to your bank account via an Atlantis Front Money Account. Players will be subjected to a Maximum Cash Payout Rule, as part of the PSLive Terms of Use.

It is also very important to note that you are allowed to carry more than $10,000 through Customs but you MUST declare it. Bahamas Customs are known to be very strict with regards to this rule.

Will there be a party? Can I bring a guest?

Yes. There will be a Party held as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure event that all PokerStars Players NL Hold'em Championship players are invited to attend. Further details will be announced later in the year.

Is there an agreement I need to sign to play in any of the events?

Yes. You are required to accept and sign the PSLive Terms of Use to sign up for a PSLive account. The PSLive Terms of Use are comprised of The Stars Group rules and regulations governing live poker tournaments and cash games during tour events. Upon registration to a Tournament for the first time, you will need to sign and accept the PSLive Terms on site in The Bahamas in order to receive a PSLive Card, which is mandatory to play in any of the tournaments.

Will there be merchandise for players?

Players who participate in the Main Event will receive a PSPC player bag. These can be collected from the Information Desk. You will need to show a valid tournament buy-in receipt from the Main Event to be eligible.
